It is a little more equipped to handle differences in temperature and humidity than wood. Great if you are planning to spend some time in the mountains and tropical rain forests. It is equipped to handle surroundings with temperatures from -40 degrees Celsius to +80 degrees Celsius.
The handle is made from polyamide, a strong type of plastic. The end of the handle is enhanced with a built-in emergency whistle of no less than 110 dB! The blade is partially serrated, practical for cardboard and other high-fiber materials. The blade has also been enhanced with a slot. With it opening the knife will be a lot easier, but it also serves as a key for harp keys and oxygen tanks.
The Opinel Outdoor No 8 Knife has a Virobloc lock, also called a ring lock. In the case of a Virobloc the hinges of the blade are firmly locked by the ring. This type of locking system is controlled with two hands to make sure your fingers won’t get anywhere near the cutting surface. The ring is also used to block the knife when closed.
